Abstract: At the intersection of linguistics, philosophy of language and literary theories, a special direction is currently being formed, which can be called the pragmatics of artistic discourses, including the study of linguopragmatic parameters of the discourses of prose, poetry, drama, theater, cinema, performance, song, etc. This article is devoted to the prehistory and current state of pragmatic approaches to poetic discourse. During the twentieth century, theories of artistic discourse were formed, outlining the prospects of a linguopragmatic approach to a poetic text, i.e. an approach in which a poetic utterance is considered as an action carried out with the help of words. An excursion into four national traditions of poetic pragmatics is given: Russian (V. N. Voloshinov, Yu. S. Stepanov, etc.), French (E. Benveniste), German (M. Heidegger, H.-G. Gadamer), and Anglo-American (J. Searle, T. Van Dijk, etc.). The points of intersection of literary and linguistic analysis of the pragmatics of poetic discourse are noted.
