The scientific journal “Languages and Folklore of Indigenous Peoples of Siberia” (Yazyki i fol’klor korennykh narodov Sibiri) has been published since 2013.

The purpose of the journal is to disseminate advanced scientific knowledge about the language processes and folklore traditions of the peoples of Siberia and the Far East.

Two main sections of the Journal, “Linguistics” and “Folkloristics”, publish the results of linguistic and folklore studies (including musical folklore) of the indigenous and settled ethnic groups of Siberia and the Far East.

The “Linguistics” section is concerned with issues related to the development and contacts of the languages of the peoples of Siberia and the Far East. The works cover both current field data on phonetics, morphology, and syntax of the languages under consideration, and information from archival sources. The research findings prove to be valuable evidence of language processes associated with the interaction of both related and unrelated languages in the vast territory of the Siberian-Far East region.

The “Folkloristics” section publishes the papers on folkloristics, ethnomusicology, and audiovisual anthropology. They consider the relevant problems of the history and theory of folklore, collection, classification, and publication of folklore works, complex textology, historical dynamics of folklore traditions, ethnocultural interaction, to name a few.
