Abstract: In the paper an attempt is made for the first time to collect and study comprehensively V. A. Zhykovsky’s little known poetic compositions in the German language, which have not been translated into Russian. Analysis is made of eight works of this kind. They all fall into a genre popular in the epoch romanticism. It was the genre of friendly epistlers and dedications, addressed to A. A. Protasova, I. V. Gоete’s grandsons, countess O. P. Bobrinskaya, I. Radovitz, A. Maltitz. The paper reveals the peculiarities of the poetical semantics and a motivational organization of poems. Also, it defines the adequate codes for read the ciphered emblematics and the Christian symbolism of the late dedications of the 1840s – 1850s.
