Abstract: The international seminar «Philology and communication sciences in the world of culture, science and education: 21st century», held at the Altai State University (Barnaul) April 8, 2014, was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the philological and communication education at the Altai State University. The seminar participants focused their attention on the following topics: «Oncoming movement of philology and communication sciences as a factor in the development of culture. Rhetoric in contemporary culture»; «The common space of communication sciences and philology, its opportunities for formulating and solving new scientific and practical problems»; «Philological and communicative education in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs: the variants in the content and technology of educational activities». The Seminar participants have outlined the topical trends in the development of philological-communication investigations.
