Abstract: Based on the works by the first Yakut poet A.Ye. Kulakovsky, the paper traces the formation of a poet’s creative thinking which is closely connected with understanding the notions of «a word» and «a poetic word». In this process the earlier literature is considered to be a model for establishing an absolutely new type of authorship in comparison with the oral tradition, which takes on special typological significance in analyzing certain aspects of historical poetics.

Keywords: oral tradition, historical poetics, poetic word, poetic diction, authorship
