 Abstract: The paper considers one of the ways of translating a phraseological unit, namely, the use of a phraseological equivalent (absolute and relative). On the basis of phraseological units taken from Ch.Tsydendanbaev’s prose, a phraseological equivalent is defined as a figurative phraseological unit in the language of translation which is in full semantic agreement with a corresponding Russian phraseological unit.
