Abstract: The Bible as a metatext represents a special series of characters, plots and motives in the symbolistic historical prose by D.S.Merezhkovsky. By virtue of his creative inclinations Merezhkovsky focused on the mythology of the Old and New Testament, using in his historical novels some elements of Christian mythopoetics, coding the Bible Apocrypha, myths and motives.
