Abstract: The paper considers the problem of the formation and development of Russian dramatic art and historiography, which in the 18th century actively cooperated and influenced each other. The historical plot of "the Time of Trouble" became prevailing in the Russian literature of the 18th-19th centuries and was meditated on both by writers and by historians. This has allowed the present author to investigate the correlation of artistic and historiographic forms of comprehending this historical plot in the literature at the end of the 18th century by analyzing the tragedies and the historiographic works devoted to the plot of "the Time of Trouble".
