Name: Word-formation metaphor as result of becoming archaic primary value of a derivative word

Abstract: In the article we consider one of the ways of formation of the derivational metaphor in the history of the Russian language – that is the process in which the primary meaning of the metaphor becomes archaic. On the basis of the analysis of the data we establish the reasons of disappearance of primary meanings, the loss of realias denoted by them and competitiveness of derivational synonyms being the most important ones.
