ArticleName: Explication of ideological semantic components in active type dictionaries Authors: Elena Yu. Bulygina, Tatyana A. Tripolskaya Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, Novosibirsk, Russian Federation In the section Linguistics
Abstract: The paper deals with the study of dynamic processes in the semantics of ideologically marked vocabulary and the ways how this vocabulary is represented in new-generation dictionaries. The research is concerned with the concepts of active/universal type dictionaries including modern online dictionary resources that are intended to reflect the results of communicative, pragmatic and cognitive investigations of words used in recent decades. The most relevant semasiological and lexicographic problems include interpretation of the communicative potential of a pragmatically marked word in dictionaries. Lexicographers consider the purpose of dictionaries, an addressee factor, appropriateness and possibility of semantization of a pragmatically marked meaning, as well as necessary and sufficient volume of such information. The issues concerned with a dictionary entry structure, ways of material presentation, sources and a meta-language for dictionary description are essential as well. A dictionary entry in the Database of pragmatically marked vocabulary consists of two parts: the first one includes the material from the most prestigious dictionaries referring to different time periods that helps to reveal active processes in a word semantics; the second part includes definitions, illustrative material and description of elements of a pragmatically marked meaning. The lexicographic on-line resource helps to reveal ideological, social, gender, age, evaluative and other elements of a word semantics and to represent them as a system of interacting items. The noun «liberal» that has re-entered modern political framework in the recent decade is taken as an example. Within the semantics of this lexeme, the ideological part is incorporated with axiological, emotional and social micro-components. It is evident that the same denotative content corresponded to different qualificative meanings in different historical periods. Lexicographic and corpus material arranged according to the period helps to represent dynamic processes in the sphere of ideologically marked vocabulary.
