Abstract: Leo Tolstoy's literary and theoretical creations confirm that aesthetic criteria priority in fiction was shattered during the last third of the 19th century, as Tolstoy put communicative component in the foreground. Realizing his pursuit of historicism, the writer arrived at usage of fictionally unprecedented mentative type of text. Tolstoy's new discourse model creation indicates the beginning of new stage of the Russian literature evolution linked to the effect of fiction and non-fiction word interference strategy.
