Abstract: The paper considers the integrated approach to the publication and study of folklore used in the bilingual academic series «Monuments of Folklore of the Peoples of Siberia and the Far East». Given the syncretic nature of folklore, the necessity of this approach is proved. As an example, the epos genre is chosen, being the most complex and including the greatest number of versatile aspects, such as textual, linguistic, ethnographic, musical, physiological, choreographic ones. The author studies scientific articles in the volumes of a Series containing epics of Yakuts, Altaians, Tuvinians, Buryats, Russians, Khakas, Dolgans, Shors, Nenets. The analysis is given of the poetic structure of an epic – traditional poetic formulas, epithets, hyperboles and others means of expression and also compositions, subject lines and the system of characters. It reveals the basic principles of the translation of folklore texts into Russian which allow reaching the required adequacy of the translation. Also, the paper deals with the linguistic aspect of preparation and edition of the volumes of the Series including the main typological characteristics of concrete language and dialect groups existing within it, and (if necessary) a problem of its status as an independent language. In addition, the ethnographic component is demonstrated that is present in each volume concerning ethnogenesis of the people, its ethnocultural contacts, material and spiritual culture that have received reflection in his folklore heritage. Besides the text description and the analysis, the ethnographic component also contains photo illustrations to each volume. Special attention is paid to the ethnomusicological analysis of a musical component of the epics included in volumes of a Series. The basic principles of preparing of the musicological section including the scientific article with the analysis of tunes – their melodic, rhythmical structure, musical composition and also a notation of the published epics and the supplement with audio recordings are listed. The author shows that the analysis of the Altai throat singing kai includes both musicological and physiological aspects. The choreographic component of studying of epics consisting of the analysis of the Dolgan dances in the volume «Folklore of Dolgans» is also considered. The author comes to a conclusion that it is the integrated approach and use of the greatest possible number of related scientific disciplines that allows one to obtain a reliable scientific source for the future research.
