ArticleName: Specific nature of verbal associations produced by military servicemen as illustrated with associative field «enemy» Authors: R. A. Kaftanov In the section Linguistics
Abstract: The paper considers the opportunity to reveal some elements of the associative verbal model of professional identity of military servicemen using the example of the associative field of one stimulus. Associative field ENEMY obtained by means of a free associative experiment among cadets of a military institute in Siberia has been analyzed and compared with analogous associative fields in some associative bases that are the most representative for the Russian linguistic conscience, that were created in different years, and that were obtained from experiments with different experimental groups. Lexico-semantic variations, zones of semantic gestalt, and elements of the cognitive structure are compared in the associative fields. Based on the comparative analysis of the associative fields taken from different associative bases, an attempt was made to show how a professional variant of the linguistic view of the world influences the understanding and usage of the word «enemy».
