Abstract: In the Chalkan language, the process of analytical verb form contraction is actively taking place; in some cases, only root morphemes and personal markers are preserved. These changes are the most active in the indicative, leading to a reduction of the number of temporal forms and a formation of mixed paradigms. As a result, it is not always possible to identify the sources of contracted verb forms. The aim of our research is to describe such secondary synthetic forms, the sources of their formation and their status in verb paradigms of the modern Chalkan language. Owing to such synthesizing processes, many analytical constructions, described 70 years ago, contracted into single word forms, on the one hand, resulting in complication of the system of morphological verb forms due to contraction of analytical constructions and their addition to synthetic paradigms; on the other hand, leading to maximum simplification of the surface phonetic structure of verb forms.
