ArticleName: The consonantism of the language of the Kirov Permians Authors: Sazhina Svetlana Aleksandrovna In the section Linguistics
Abstract: The paper considers the specificity of the language of the Kirov Permians, a territorial variety of the Komi language, functioning under the conditions of disconnection from the basic ethnic massif and strong influence of the surrounding Russian dialects. The subjects of the present investigation have been the phonetic peculiarities of the language under study. In particular, attention has been given to the system of consonantism: articulation characteristics, distribution of consonants, and phonetic phenomena in the area of consonants. The empirical base of the research was made up from the language materials of the author’s dialectological expeditions to the area of Kirov Permians’ residence during the period 2002 – 2012. Revealed in the consonantism of the investigated idiom are the specific features: 1) having the common-Komi character, 2) characteristic of the area of the Komi-Permian and southern Zyryan dialects, 3) revealing parallels only in the southern Komi-Zyryan dialects. The surrounding Russian dialects have exerted certain influence on the system of consonants of the investigated idiom.
