ArticleName: The transformation of the motives of death in the late prose by V. Rasputin Authors: Stepanova Vasilina Andreevna In the section Study of literature
Abstract: The paper deals with a complex of the mortal motifs, which is associated with the comprehension of death as an exit into the metaphysical. Death as one of the plot-forming elements of the prose by V. Rasputin represents the reflection of the writer's world-view. In his later works the mortal motifs, introduced in the 1960s, are significantly transformed. Standing out are the following mortal motifs: connection with the oneyrosphere, phenomenon of the conductor, creation of new space, locking of the death. The demise of the traditional hero (Tolya, Savelij) symbolizes the nonviability of this character in the changing circumstances. The patriarchal type of a righteous woman (Aksinia Egorovna) is also irrelevant in the later prose, it is replaced by strong, accustomed to everything, courageous women, with which the author connects the possibilities of the outcome as surviving, physical self-salvation of the nation (Pashuta, Agathia). The transformation of the motif of death testifies to the writer’s search of new foundations because of the unsustainability of the former principles. Keywords: v. rasputin, mortal motifs, death, metaphysical, conductor, overcoming water, locking of the death Bibliography: |
