Abstract: The paper considers the notion of encyclopedic proper names singled out in the framework of the concept of the proper name as a text and establishes differences and correlations between encyclopedic, chrestomathic, precedential and reminiscential proper names. Chrestomathic and precedential proper names are part of the general fund of encyclopedic proper names reproduced in different texts during definite periods of time. The former ones are used exclusively for educational purposes. Reminiscential proper names, as distinct from encyclopedic, chrestomathic and precedential ones related to culture, are units of a text.
