ArticleName: The Specifics of Text Transformation in the Process of Intersemiotic Translation: Novel – Screenplay – Film Authors: Irina V. Zykova Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russian Federation
Abstract: The present paper is devoted to the problem of intersemiotic translation. This problem is studied within the framework of one of the fundamental issues of modern linguistics about the ways of realizing the creative possibilities of language in various types of artistic activity and various discourses. The specifics of intersemiotic translation is traced in the process of identifying formal and semantic transformations of the novel “Solaris” in the screenplay and film. Special attention is paid to the comparative analysis of linguocreative means used in the screenplay and film under consideration. The quantitative and qualitative characteristics of these means are considered an important indicator of those transformations that the text can have in the process of its intersemiotic translation. To study linguocreative units, the method of discursive-parametric analysis of linguistic creativity is applied. The research results in establishing three main strategies of intersemiotic translation that are characteristic of the analyzed material. They are reproduction, substitution, and elimination.
