ArticleName: Theatrical Text as a Result of Transmutation: Correlation between Primary Modeling System and Secondary Modeling System Authors: Olga A. Chureyeva V. I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, Simferopol, Russian Federation
Abstract: The research highlights those aspects of the text theory that have proved particularly essential in accommodating both the regularities and the quirks that are significant for understanding the process of intersemiotic translation. The primary goal of this research is to set out essential properties of theatrical text. The study, based on the text material of Chekhov’s play ‘The Seagull’, provides us an opportunity to probe the mechanism of creation and existence of a theatrical text and allows us to define its specific traits. A notable pattern emerged from a close review of phenomena being question under discussion is that a status of theatrical text depends on its attitude to invariant text. It is pointed out that it is closely related to the issue of author’s intention. It is emphasized that major criterion for the adequacy of intersemiotic translation is functional equivalence of signs, the same impact of fiction work and theatrical text on the cognitive sphere and value system of the reader-viewer.
