Abstract: Focusing on Tsai Ing-wen’s address on the occasion of “Double Tenth Day” on October 10, 2022, we analyze the cognitive and translation aspects of Tsai Ing-wen’s speech and its official translation in Russian and English. We study the role of path metaphor and war metaphor, which dominate in Tsai Ing-wen’s speech, in describing the development of the country and the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, as well as compare metaphorical contexts between the original address in Chinese and its official translation in Russian and English. In Summary, we highlight the significance of address on the occasion of “Double Tenth Day” in the discursive practice of Taiwanese politicians, the role of path metaphor and war metaphor in Tsai Ing-wen’s speech, as well as the features of translation of political metaphors.
