Name: To the question of narrativity of word problem

Abstract: The modern arithmetic word problem is a kind of mathematical task formulated as a word text. Some researchers study the word problems as story problems and describe the genre using narratological and literary concepts. Considering the main types of world problems, we try to figure out how justified it is to speak about the existence of "mathematical" characters and events, motifs and plots; and also to distinguish between narrative and non-narrative types of texts of this oldest educational genre.
