Yuri Vasilievich ShatinResearch InterestsRussian literature, theory of literature, semiotics, rhetoric, poetics, discourse analysis. Brief scientific biographyBorn on January 19, 1945 in Leninsk-Kuznetsk, Kemerovo region. In 1962 he entered the Leningrad State University. A. A. Zhdanova (Leningrad State University) at the Faculty of Philology, where he studied for 6 years in the Russian and Slavic departments. After graduating from Leningrad State University, he worked for several months in Chisinau and Odessa at Intourist. In 1968–1979 he worked at the Novokuznetsk Pedagogical Institute. In 1977 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Typology and plot evolution in a Russian novel of the second half of the 19th century”, in 1993 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Genre-forming processes and the artistic integrity of the text in 19th-century Russian literature”. Since October 1979 he is a professor at the Department of Russian Literature and Literature Theory of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University. From 1990 to 1995 he developed two lecture courses “Introduction to Semiotics”, “Rhetoric: Theory and Technology of Agonal Communications” and edited the course “Theory of Literature”. Yuri Vasilievich teaches at Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, Novosibirsk State University, Novosibirsk Independent Institute, Novosibirsk Theater Institute, Moscow International Academy of Business and Management, conducts graduate school in Novokuznetsk and in Leninsk-Kuznetsk. Since 2012, Yu. V. Shatin – chief researcher of Sector of Literary Studies of Institute of Philology of SB RAS. Yu. V. Shatin is a member of the public organization “Russian Society of Joseph Brodsky” and a member of the editorial board of the city center of poetry lovers “Tsvetaeva’s House”. The author of more than 150 scientific papers, numerous newspaper reviews on the problems of literature and theater. Profile of Yu. V.
