Brief scientific biographyIn 1970 I. Ya. Selyutina graduated from the Faculty of Humanities of the Novosibirsk State University. Since 1971, she has been working at V. M. Nadelyaev Laboratory of Experimental-Phonetic Researches of the Institute of Philology SB RAS. She defended her PhD thesis «Kumandy consonantism (experimental-phonetic research)» in 1980 at the Institute of the Kazakh SSR (Alma-Ata). In 2000, Iraida Yakovlevna defended her doctoral dissertation «Phonetics of the Kumandy language as a historical and linguistic source (experimental-phonetic research)» at the Institute of the Humanity Researches of the Academy of Sciences of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). I. Ya. Selyutina is the author of more than 300 scientific papers, including eleven monographs (eight of them are collective) and five textbooks. Editor of 25 monographs and 12 collections of scientific papers. She is an active participant of international and all-Russian conferences, including the IX International Conference on Turkic Linguistics in Oxford (UK), the International Turkological Conference in Frankfurt-am-Main (Germany), the 4th International Symposium of Turkish Studies «Disappearing Turkic Languages and Cultures» in Ankara (Turkey). Iraida Yakovlevna is also a member of the Dissertation Council D 003.040.01 in the specialty 10.02.20 «Comparative-historical, typological and comparative linguistics» at the Institute of Philology SB RAS. She is a member of the Russian Committee of Turkologists. Member of the editorial boards of the journals: «Ural-Altai studies» (RSCI. SCOPUS. ERIH PLUS), «Bulletin of the NSU. Series: Linguistics and Intercultural Communication» (RSCI. RSCI of the WoS system. ERIH PLUS), «Theoretical and Applied Linguistics» (RSCI), «Languages and Folklore of the indigenous peoples of Siberia» (RSCI). 11 students of I. Ya. Selyutina defended their PhD dissertations on the phonetics of the Siberian peoples’ languages. She is a Professor of the Department of Siberian Peoples’ Languages and Folklore, Faculty of Humanities, Novosibirsk State University (1992-2013), Professor of the Department of Altai Language and Literature, Gorno-Altaisk State University (1998-2007). Visiting professor of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, which was the first among the Universities of Central Asia to enter the Top 400 best Universities in the world (according to QS WorldUniversityRankings 2012).
