Abstract:

Maya Ivanovna Cheremisina, a distinguished Russian linguist, Doctor of Philology, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, and founder of the Novosibirsk Syntactic School, is recognized for her significant contribution to the development of traditional sociolinguistics. This paper sheds light on her significant contributions. It elucidates the ideas that the scholar advocated regarding the societal development of indigenous Siberian languages. Emphasis is placed on the organizational role of Maya Ivanovna Cheremisina in the deployment of linguistic works at the Novosibirsk Scientific Center, particularly in relation to the sociolinguistic analysis of indigenous peoples of Siberia. These works are a part of the overall research agenda of Maya Ivanovna Cheremisina, her colleagues, and students in the field of general and typological linguistics.
