ArticleName: Wot wi ete: the Mennonite’s history in cooking Authors: E. A. Liebert In the section Лексика
Abstract: The article deals with the special words denoting cooking in Plautdietsch (the Mennonites Language, spoken all around the world by the Mennonites, also in West Siberia). Among such words there are the various names of food and dishes which originally came from different languages – Low German, Dutch, Frisian, Polish and Russian. Many of such words reflect the complicated history of this protestant community on its way from Western Europe to Russia although the origin of some part of them is obscure. A shot text about cooking is given. Keywords: Mennonite language (Plautdietsch), Мennonites kitchen, borrowed words, field materials Bibliography: Авдеев И. Е.
