Abstract: The results of the statistical processing of data extracted from dozens of thousands of traditional narratives of Northern Asia and other regions are described. Parallels between Siberia and southern part of Asia probably reflect the northward shift of population after the Last Glacial Maximum. Tendencies of areal distribution of two groups of motifs are compared. Those which are related to the anthropogenesis, human anatomy and gender relations are especially popular in the circum-Pacific region while ideas about the objects of the night sky are most developed in Northern Eurasia and North America. The basic part of the Siberian cosmonymy had to emerge not later than the Pleistocene/Holocene transition.
