Name: Comitative forms and constructions in the Chukchi-Koryak languages

Abstract: The article examines functions and frequency of the comitative forms and constructions in the three lan-guages of the Chukchi-Koryak family (Chukchi, Koryak, Alutor) from the beginning of their documentation to date. Data sampling includes original and translated published texts, folklore archival and own field data, as well as newspaper texts. Under the Russian influence in Chukchi and Koryak the frequency of analytic comitative constructions in-creases. Along with this process, in all Chukchi-Koryak language the general destruction of the functional dis-tribution of the comitative forms and constructions is taking place: both synthetic form and analytical construc-tions are being used in the above non-core functions, there are new prefixes and suffixes contaminations within comitative circumfix, comitative forms can combine with adpositions.
