Name: Speech functioning of the synonyms of a Siberian dialect

Abstract: The paper is devoted to the functioning of the synonyms in the dialect of the village of Vershinino located in the Tomsk region – one of the oldest Russian dialects of the Mid-Ob River area. Taken as the material for the research are contexts with actualization of the synonymic relations in the dialect. The paper describes conditions for the appearance of synonyms in speech, functions of different levels of analysis: firstly, the functions correlated to the derivatives of the basic functions of language: informative, constructive, metalinguistic, expressive; secondly, more specific functions of synonyms, functions manifesting themselves in a particular communicative act: substitution, specification, explanation.
