Abstract: This paper discusses the meanings of the refrain words youluge, iiluge, tane in folk songs of Forest Yukaghirs. A conclusion is drawn that these are modal and interjectional words. By using the words iiluge and youluge the authors create a special emotional background of their songs and transfuse their feelings and emotions into their audience. These words perform a distinctive function in relation to the content. While singing and dancing in a ring, the Yukaghirs use the words tane and tane-yo to confirm a statement.

Keywords: forest yukagirs, song folklore, refrain words, modal and interjectional words
