Abstract: The present paper deals with the problem of linguocultural premises for the appearance and development of the Indo-European legal culture as an integral part of the linguistic sphere. Considered as one of the main reasons for the conceptualization and organization of linguistic mapping of the legal reality in the Indo-European culture is the existence, both in the individual and in the collective human linguistic consciousness, of a mental boundary, which is ordering the human behavior in line with the principle of distinction between «us» and «them».

Keywords: linguocultural premises, linguistic world mapping, indo-european legal culture, world, lexical ambivalence, mental boundary
