Abstract: The article analyzes the functioning of the images of Siberia and the Caucasus in the artistic topography of Gaito Gazdanov. In spite of their peripheral position, both regions play a key role in the mnemonic poetics of Gazdanov: Siberia is represented as a symbol of Russia, while the Caucasus is a nostalgic image of the homeland of the autobiographical protagonist.

Keywords: literature of the first wave of emigration, writings of gaito gazdanov, mnemonics, artistic topography, siberian text, literary caucasus
