Abstract: The paper is devoted to the artistic overcoming of the canonical plot models in the poem «Who lives well in Russia?» by N.A. Nekrasov. The principal objectives of the research are the intended but unrealized plot opportunities, associated with the travel plot. The peculiarities of the intersection of Nekrasov’s plot with the tradition, as well as the analysis of the system of episodes and of detailed spatial elaboration show that the «travel» as the movement of pilgrims in space fails to be a plotogeneous factor.

Keywords: n.a. nekrasov, the travel plot, non-canonical poem, reduction of the epic plot, dynamic plot and story correlation
