Abstract: This paper is devoted to the research into the spatial organization of the story «The Fifth Plague» by A.M. Remizov. As distinct from the clearly structured and demarcated space of the novel «The Mere» and the stories «Sisters of the Cross» and «The Deplorable Ditch», the space «The Fifth Plague» is unstable. This change of space organization is connected with the evolution of Remizov’s world view. In his earlier works we observed a certain evil will which was ruling the world while after 1910 there arose a new, divine «right» will exculpating people from any charges. «The Fifth Plague» which was written in 1912, is a «borderline» work in which the rules of the old space structure have ceased, while no new one has been formed yet. Keywords: a.m. remizov, «the fifth plague», artistic space organization, topos, locus Bibliography: |
