Abstract: The paper examines the specificity of the genre classification of the narrative non-folktale stories of the Siberian peoples. Analyzed are the difficulties in distinguishing the genres of aetiological myths, legends, genealogic stories, narrations about shamans and supernatural beings, toponymic stories.
