Abstract: The paper describes the precedent phenomenon Vechnost pakhnet neft’u («Eternity smells of petroleum») which has acquired the text-of-influence status in the Internet discourse as a result of an increase in the socio-cultural topicality of the media concept «petroleum». The idiom «Eternity smells of petroleum» that goes back to the song by the rock poet Egor Letov has received a powerful interpretational and reflex-ive support in the web discourse.
