Abstract: The paper deals with the functioning of the affix -kïla-/-gïla-/-kile-/-gile- in the Shor language, which is the basic means of expressing multiplicative and distributive meanings of the quantitative manner of verbal action. Though some researchers believe that multiplicative verbs take this affix to denote separate quanta, we argue, that semelfactives take this affix to represent the united multiplicative action. The distributive meanings are expressed by this affix in a most general way without singling out any subjective, objective or diversitive shades of meaning and without expressing any quasi-distributive meanings. Serving as an additional means of expressing multiplicative and distributive meanings are adverbial modifiers. Keywords: quantitative manner of verbal action, non-verbal means of expressing the manner of verbal action, multiplicative, objective and subjective distributive, diversitive, quasi-distributive, shor language Bibliography: |
