Abstract: Based on Tolstoy’s diaries, letters and literary works which refer to the Caucasian period of his life and activity, the paper reveals the origin of Dolokhov as a character, along with that of other typologically close characters forming «the Dolokhov-like» paradigm of characters in the writer’s works.
