Abstract: The paper presents the chronology of the work at the «Collection of verses related to unforgettable 1812» edited by N.M. Kugushev in 1814, reveals its teleology, ana-lyzes its reception by contemporaries, determines the significance of the «Collection…» which consists in reproducing the vivid picture of the ethical-philosophical and poetic development of the domestic early 19th century lyrics that exerted a marked influence on the subsequent literature related to the theme of the war of 1812 (subsequent Decembrists, Slavophils, L.N. Tolstoy).
