Abstract: The work under review is a collection of papers «Chekhov and the Time» (Tomsk University Press) compiled by the Chair of Russian and Foreign Literature, the Philological Department of Tomsk State University. The papers were contributed by well-known German and Russian Slavonic scholars. The review emphasizes that in the papers under review Chekhov’s works are discussed in the broad context of the world culture and literature. A separate section in the collection is devoted to the problems of perceiving Chekhov’s works in the Siberian region.
