Abstract: The paper analyzes the phenomenon of Peter Makushin’s private library. The analysis is made on the basis of archival documents from the Manuscript and Book Memorial Department of Tomsk State University’s Research Library and from the Rare Books Sector of Tomsk Regional Universal Research Library named after A.S. Pushkin. These documents and sources have mostly not yet been studied before. In the present paper they are presented in the context of the developing ideas of regionalism and regional self-consciousness typical of the historical, cultural and literary process in the Siberia of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
