Abstract: The paper studies the use of euphemism as a verbal instrument of exerting influence on the information recipient. The authors analyze a wide range of euphemisms in different areas such as journalism, advertising and cinema. The authors also introduce their own classification of euphemisms based on their functions and impact on public opinion.
