Abstract: The paper deals with metaphors of an author's reflection on narration in the Russian romantic prose. The narration unfolds during a travel in which the author plays the role of a traveller-guide. Images of means of transportation (a horse, a ship) become metaphors of meta-narration and meta-textual reflection.
