Abstract: In the novels by F.M. Dostoevsky the word «cross» and words derived from it occur in some novel scenes, or are present as repetitive details on the level of novelistic episodes. In fact, these scenes and episodes are key in the structure of each novel. In addition to the uniformity of their composition and structure of the novel, they also have the same semantic range. The common thread in each of them is the meaning given to heroes in relation to the cross.

Keywords: f.m. dostoevsky, novels, cross
