Abstract: The article is intended to validate necessity of examining selfreflection of literature in relation to processes of perception and functioning of literature's product. Taking shape are tendencies which have formed in understanding of phenomenon of reading in literature of traditionalism, romanticism, realism, modernism and postmodernism.
