Abstract: The article aims to analyse whether contaminated computer terms structurally and semantically correspond to some requirements traditionally put forward for terms. The research has revealed that the contaminated term from the standpoint of terminology can be described as a terminoid, as it is, very often, metaphorical and stylistically marked. At the same time, from the standpoint of linguistics it does not differ much from other terms that emerge within the new, quickly developing sciences: it may emerge on the basis of slang words and jargonisms.

Keywords: contamination, term, slang word, jargonism, terminologisation
