Abstract: This paper is a review of the monograph “Valentin Rasputin: pro et contra, an anthology. modern aspects of research”, published in the “Russkiy put’” (“Russian way”) series by the Russian Christian Humanitarian Academy in St. Petersburg in 2024. The monograph presents a compilation of diverse scholarly and critical perspectives on the works of Valentin Rasputin. In addition, it provides a systematization of thoughts on the artistic nature of his texts, and an illustration of and demonstrate various reception practices in reading this classic of “village prose.” The monograph highlights the prospect of not merely summarizing existing research but also expanding interpretative horizons through new aspects of interaction: intercultural, interdisciplinary, and intergeneric. The relevance of the anthology under review is associated not only with the need to systematize the currently available information about the artistic worldview of Valentin Rasputin, but also with the increasing demand of modern society to rethink the paradigm of traditional values, which has become a key element in the valuecontent structure of “village prose”.
