Abstract: The second scientific conference «Shifting “image of the language” in the science and art» took place in Novosibirsk, June 2–4, 2015 was devoted the memory of Academician Yuri Sergeyevich Stepanov. The conference was organized by the Institute of Linguistics of Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Philology, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, and Novosibirsk State University. The conference focused on the following themes: the ideas of Yuri Stepanov in Russian and international scientific space; Moscow (Arbat) School and Semiotics School of Yuri Stepanov in Novosibirsk; images of languages and multilingualism in the discourses of various types; metalanguage of linguistics and related disciplines of the humanities; linguistic mechanisms of cultural transfer; the migration of concepts between East and West. The conference outlined the current trends in the development of semiotics and philological research.
