Abstract: In V. S. Yanovsky’s prose of Yanovsky the idyllic genre is not the major one, nevertheless, in his emigrant literature, often in naturalistic plots, physiological, rough, showing the low-lying parts of people’s lives, one can see the features of the idyll related to the writer’s reminiscences of the childhood, friends, the literary fraternity. Precisely this aspect of his prose is disclosed in this work, where a successive analysis is made of the following works by V. S. Yanovsky: the short novel «The Wheel», the novels «Portable immortality» and «On the other side of time» belonging to different stages of the writer’s work.

Keywords: yanovsky, emigration, young emigrants, prose, idyll, wheel, portable immortality, on the other side of time
