Abstract: The paper analyzes the kernel lexical units of the body language of the Teleuts, one of the smaller aboriginal peoples of Russia. It focuses on gestures and gesture expressions which the author observed and collected himself during his field work with informants in the Teleut villages of Siberia.. Some substantial correlations have been revealed between the corporal signs that Teleuts used in their everyday life and their common beliefs, attitudes and rules of behavior.

Keywords: teleuts, siberia, semiotic conceptualization of the body, signs, field research
