Name: Text clips in the Dictionary of Russian Functional Words

Abstract: The paper suggests the development of the lexicographical description of text clips, i. e. sincategorematic lexemes and phraseological units of the type «so», «thus», «though», «incidentally», «besides», «moreover». The authors substantiate the notion of the text clip, and give its definition. They comment in detail all the parameters of the lexicographic description, which starts with an illustrative presentation under the title «types of application», reflecting all the meanings of every clip, as well as its contextual or functional-semantic variability. The main parameters of the description are: morphological structure, homonymy, interpretation of the meaning, sphere of usage, interaction with other clips and other auxiliary words, «clip-phrase» format, intonation characteristics, stylistic marking, bibliographic data, as well as other functions, in addition to textual links – metatextual operator, signal function. Used as illustrative material are examples with various clips, the choice of which in each case depends on how obviously the clip in question reflects the particular characteristics. The suggested development of the dictionary entry is intended for the Dictionary of Russian Functional Words being compiled by a team from the Department of the Russian Language and Literature of the Far Eastern Federal University under the guidance of the present paper authors.
